STUDENT entrepreneurs from all over Worcestershire will gather in the cloisters of Worcester Cathedral on Saturday hoping for divine assistance for their projects.

As part of the not-for-profit business and education charity Young Enterprise, they will be setting out their stalls during the city’s Victorian Fayre street market, which celebrates its 21st anniversary this year.

More than a dozen educational establishments are taking part, in what for them is the premier retail platform of the year, as they have access to a captive audience and guaranteed footfall.

They also get the opportunity to observe and share best practice with professional retailers, some of whom have years of experience in participating in Worcester’s leading selling event.

Young Enterprise South Worcestershire area board chairman, Paul Moult, said: “The event is really important to participating students as not only does it present a fantastic commercial opportunity for them and the discerning shopper of course, but they get to look at how other professional retailers display their merchandise.

“Additionally, they can closely observe selling techniques first hand and pick up some key pointers to help them prepare for when the Young Enterprise Company competition progresses and the judges’ expectations will be very high.”

The ethos behind Young Enterprise is to deliver ent-repreneurial education to young people in schools and colleges to encourage and help them develop the attitudes and skills for enterprise, personal success, lifelong learning and employability.

This year there will be Young Enterprise companies from Worcester schools like Bishop Perowne, St Mary’s Convent, King’s and the Royal Grammar School, as well as Worcester Sixth Form College.

From further afield the Chase from Malvern, as well as Pershore and Droitwich high schools, will also be attending.

While from north Worcestershire, Bromsgrove Sch-ool and North and South Bromsgrove high schools will be setting up their stalls anticipating many shoppers eager to grab a bargain.

Products on sale will include items made from recycled bottles, decorative goods for the home and hand-made soaps and bracelets.

There will be plenty of opportunities for shoppers to buy Christmas gifts, as cards, calendars and decorations will also be on sale as well as bath bombs, shower gel and lip balm gift sets.
