AS Corporal Jones in Dad’s Army used to say: “Don’t panic, Captain Mainwaring – don’t panic.”

Because Worcestershire businesses are to be given advice on how to prepare for a crisis.

Droitwich businesswoman Christine Barr will welcome global experts to the West Midlands for an international leading current affairs and emerging trends crisis resilience conference and expo.

At the event at Birmingham’s ICC next February businesses will be given an insight into crisis management and the opportunity to meet and hear world-re-nowned speakers on the subjects of everything from cyber threats and e-crime to counter-terrorism, and public health to environmental hazards and challenges.

Resilience NOW 2014 will be held from February 10 – 12 and is the only event of its kind in Europe and a first for the UK, attracting support from the British Red Cross, the Met Office and the European Cyber Security Group.

Miss Barr, the event’s producer, said: “Many businesses think a crisis will never happen to them, but more frequently we are hearing about businesses that have been affected by cyber-crime, environmental hazards and challenges and even the health of their employees.

“We know there is huge demand for a conference like this not just globally, but locally too.

Businesses must be aware of how to actively build the resiliency of their businesses and protect their employees, community, reputation and bottom line profit margins.

“As crises are on the global increase, businesses must be aware of what will be emerging throughout 2014 and beyond and how to build effective resiliency that goes beyond the production of written plans.

“Attending this conference can’t help avoid a crisis, but it will give you all the knowledge needed to minimise im-pact on your organisation.”
