PERSHORE Swimming Club has received a legal leg-up to help it take part in its first ever international competition. Worcester-based regional law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys has donated £800 to the club, which has been invited to a swimming event in Eindhoven taking place in July. The swimmers hope to raise at least half of the £8,000 it is going to cost to attend the event.

Rod Thomas, managing partner at Harrison Clark Rickerbys, said: "As a law firm with our head office in Worcester, we are pleased to support local projects such as this. It’s great to have the opportunity to encourage youngsters in the community to fulfil their sporting potential."

Jonathan Brew, the law firm's senior partner, added: "We are delighted to help the club come some way towards reaching its target . The competition is a fantastic opportunity for these swimmers and we wish the team the best of luck for July."

Steve Vizard, chairman of Pershore Swimming Club, said: "The extremely generous donation of £800 has got our fundraising off to a fantastic start. As well as a brilliant opportunity for the swimmers, we believe that this will also be a good opportunity for our young people to represent the town and the local area."
