THREE dental colleagues from Malvern took part in an epic cycling event around Malvern Hills to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.

Kevin Fieldhouse, aged 54 from Mathon, together with Simon and Daniel Young, aged 54 and 19, both from Castlemorton, rode the Malvern Mad Hatters Sportive’s 103 mile route, which took them through the three counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire.

The team are all keen cyclists and had been training hard and riding together regularly in the run up to the event. As none of them had taken part in a long distance biking challenge like this before they were all keen to do their best on the day to raise money for the local hospice and even took the longest of the three routes on offer.

Mr Fieldhouse, principle dentist at 202 Dental Practice in Malvern, said: “Over the years 202 Dental has run several charity events to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice but this is the biggest challenge to date and really tested our stamina and motivation. We trained hard to make sure we were in the best condition possible and are all delighted that we had a good ride. Our colleagues at the practice and all our patients were great in supporting us and have been really kind with their donations. So far we have raised almost £1,000 which will help the hospice continue their fantastic care for patients at the end of their lives.”
