MORE than 500 representatives from across the business community gathered for the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce awards last Thursday.

There were more than 50 finalists shortlisted in 11 categories at the event, which was held at Worcester Arena.

The event had a best of British theme which included a tube station reception, The Fidgets band, and an Abbey Road photo booth.

Guests were welcomed by Sharon Smith, the chamber’s chief executive, before host David Meade took to the stage.

Among the winners was Kimal PLC for excellence in customer service, Kingspan Insulation for manufacturer of the year and International Glazing Services (IGS) for employer of the year.

Several businesses were also recognised with a highly commended award including Print Strategy Europe, JMDA and The Smart Actuator Company.

The ceremony concluded with the announcement of the winner of winners award, which was presented to IGS, who the judges said had excelled in all areas including growth and customer service.

Mrs Smith said: “Another spectacular event celebrating the amazing growth, expertise and innovation of businesses in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

“It was brilliant to welcome 570 key business people for an evening of entertainment, networking and celebration.”

Angus Davison, chairman and owner of Haygrove Ltd, said: “We are proud of the team of over 150 people working in Ledbury to have been recognised as the Herefordshire and Worcestershire 2017 exporter of the year, and for our colleagues as far afield as Australia, Chile, China, and South Africa.”

The event also successfully raised £4,000 for chosen charities The Prince’s Trust and JSYouCanDoIt.
