A SITE manager working for Barratt Homes in the West Midlands has been recognised in a national competition.

Barratt Homes West Midlands’ award winning site manager, Darren Galbraith, has won the prestigious National House-Building Council (NHBC) pride in the job quality award for the Bishop Fields site.

The awards are the most respected in the housebuilding industry. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body NHBC carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best organised and best quality housing developments.

Mr Galbraith, 49 worked in construction as a plasterer for 20 years before moving to become a foreman and working his way up.

He has won his very first NHBC award for his work at Bishop Fields, which opened less than a year ago.

“My assistant site manager and myself have meticulous attention to detail and make each and every home on the development as if it was our very own and this award shows that level of hard work can really get results.”

Darren will now go on to the final round of the competition which will select the best site manager in Britain later this year.

Adrian Farr, managing director of Barratt Homes West Midlands, said the official recognition of Darren’s hard work by the NHBC confirms he and his team were building "the best quality homes".

The company also picked up two further awards for other developments in the West Midlands.
