A WORCESTER-based housing association is in the running for a prestigious award.

Fortis Living, which provides 15,000 homes including in Worcestershire, is in line to win the HR team of the year award at next year’s HR Distinction (HRD) awards.

The housing provider will learn whether they have won the award at a ceremony, being hosted by comedian Josh Widdicombe, taking place at Hilton Birmingham Metropole on February 6.

The award will celebrate innovatively designed and executed HR strategies, that have contributed to outstanding business success.

This will be the eighth annual HRD awards, which celebrate creative and engaging company projects and rising stars of the industry.

Verity Washbourne, head of the HR team, decided to enter the award to highlight what the newly formed team had achieved in a short space of time.

“The team has always given 100 per cent to ensure they provide the best service to the business and whilst I see this every day, I am keen to have this recognised by others,” she said.

The company has been recognised for their newly reviewed set of employment terms and conditions, making them clear and consistent for 700 employees.

Another achievement is their reduction in sickness absence which has saved them £141,000 and gained 1470 working days in 12 months.

Catherine Dass, director of people and performance at Fortis Living, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award.

"Our new HR team have become trusted partners within Fortis, having built a strong reputation in a short amount of time.

"It is testimony to their professionalism, tenacity and their ability to demonstrate tangible business benefits.

"Congratulations to all those involved.”
