WORCESTER-based wireless broadband specialist, Airband has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

The firm, based at offices in St Mary's Street, is in the running to win the tech growth business of the year award in the 2018 National Technology Awards.

Airband was nominated for its outstanding work in the past two years, delivering superfast broadband projects worth £23 million, to more than 30,000 house and businesses in hard to reach rural areas in England and Wales.

The awards are organised by National Technology News and celebrate pioneers of new technology. The firm's staff will discover how they have got on when winners are announced at the awards ceremony being held in May at the Waldorf Hilton, London.

Airband director Red Peel said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted. In the post-Brexit world, tech-focused innovation is even more of a game-changer for British business.

"We’re proud to be playing our part in creating the best possible infrastructure for rural broadband, using the most innovative and effective solutions.”

Last August the Worcester News reported on the firm being shortlisted in the Internet Service Providers Association 2017 awards.
