NON-LEAGUE footballer David Bundred has signed up for Worcester's audiovisual experts Bang & Olufsen even though it's meant hanging up his soccer boots on Saturdays.
The 21-year-old was due to sign for West Malvern FC for the 2007-08 season, but after landing an audiovisual consultant's role with the Foregate Street store - a job which demands regular Saturday call-ups - he's had to withdraw from the squad.
"I was looking forward to playing for the team," said the Malvern man, "But it's a small price to pay as it means that I'm now working alongside one of the world's most respected names in TV and hi-fi. I'm really looking forward to learning more about the products, the technology they incorporate and Bang & Olufsen's history.
"I'll have to find a football team that plays on Sundays, or just play midweek games."
Mr Bundred is finding the induction almost as tough as pre-season football training.
He said: "Because the products are so advanced there is a lot to learn. I've been set a 13-week intensive training programme."
