WORCESTERSHIRE-based Evenproducts is joining a network of experts which the Government can call on in times of international crisis.

The new facility will mobilise life-saving support from Britain’s best businesses in times of famine, floods and earthquakes.

The firm, which is based in Blayney’s Lane, Evesham, is one of the UK’s major water storage and supply experts, exporting half its production overseas.

Its expertise includes the design and manufacture of water storage, distribution and sanitation equipment for rapid-response to emergency humanitarian aid needs.

The company also specialises in horticultural and irrigation supplies for UK growers, greenhouses and nurseries.

Evenproducts is one of an initial 34 non-government organisations specialising in disaster response who have been invited by the Government to join the network. The new rapid response fund will be activated in the event of a large-scale crisis. The selected organisations will be approached within two hours and expected to take immediate action.

International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell said: “Only the professionals with the relevant skills and equipment will be approved.

“By working with a small pool of specialists we will end the dangerous crush of aid organisations which often pour into a disaster zone.

“These organisations represent the very best performing disaster response agencies. This will allow them to focus on delivery.

“But make no mistake, qualification for the fund will be revoked at the first sign of poor performance.”

Jenny Rohde, humanitarian aid director at Evenproducts, said: “We were delighted to be approached to join this small network of humanitarian aid specialists.

“We have valuable expertise in disaster response honed over many years and have built a committed and dynamic team which springs into action at short notice to deliver essential water and sanitation equipment to disaster-struck communities.”
