THE song might go Clare has got a business, it’s strictly second-hand, everything from toothpicks to a baby grand.
Except you can forget the toiletries and the furniture, because Clare Bridge’s shop in Worcester specialises in clothes – and there is nothing at all second-hand about its success.
In fact, Second Hand Rose in the Hopmarket has changed home for the second time in five years as yesterday becomes tomorrow with today’s fashionistas.
“Vintage fashion is more popular than ever,” said Miss Bridge, “and we stock vintage ‘on trend’ clothing: the original pieces that designers for the High Street are using as inspiration. We cater for all kinds of customers with our range of items dating from the 1920s to the 1980s – from fashion followers to party-goers and re-enactors. We also have a lot of customers looking for one-off prom dresses.”
She opened the shop in the Hopmarket in 2006 and has already moved once in the precinct when trade grew.
This year promises to be an exciting year for Miss Bridge, for as well as the shop move to 10 Hopmarket, she is launching a large online shop and she was asked to co-author the book Wearable Vintage Fashion with colleague Jo Waterhouse, which has been published internationally by Vivays and will hit the shops in the spring.
