A YOUNG woman from the Wyre Forest is the latest person to secure employment after attending a programme to help people into work.

Caroline Butler attended an employability course run by Vestia Training, part of the Community Housing Group (TCHG), which is designed to give learners the ability and experience to find a job.

After attending for 42 guided learning hours, Ms Butler gained a level one award in employability skills and put it to good use by securing a part-time post at the Lidl supermarket in Stourport-upon-Severn.

“The employability skills course gave me the confidence to perform well at my interview at Lidl,” she said.

Marina Banner, executive director at Vestia and TCHG corporate services, said: “We recognise the impact the recession has had on the local community and are committed to helping the unemployed into work and apprenticeships. Working with our partners has given us a fantastic opportunity.”

Vestia Training runs the course for unemployed people aged 19 to 24 in partnership with Kidderminster’s Job Centre Plus and the Foundation Skills Centre at the Worcester College of Technology.
