PASSENGERS using Worcester Foregate Street rail station on Sunday (September 21) have been advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

Trains operator London Midland has issued the advice ahead of the events taking place in the city on Sunday.

A bumper programme of running and cycling events are planned including the Worcester City 10K run, the Worcester City Run Bike Run, an under-16s 3km run and an under-11s one mile run.

All races are due to start between 9am and 9.50am and a series of road closures will be in place in and around the city.

Brenda Lawrence, London Midland’s head of route for Snow Hill services, said: “These events will be extremely popular, not least because the 10K run sees the return of iconic Great British athlete Paula Radcliffe.

“We expect our train services will be busy too, so whether you’re travelling to the event as a spectator or competitor – or are simply heading into or out of Worcester on Sunday – please allow extra time”.
