A PUPIL has had her leadership skills boosted thanks to a Rotary club award.

Worcester Vigornia Rotary Club chose to back Maddie McCollin for its youth leadership award.

Maddie, who studies at Worcester Sixth Form College, was chosen for her "great courage and personality".

The award enables a young person to take part in a week-long course aimed at boosting their team building, leadership and presentation skills.

Maddie said: “I am so grateful to Vigornia Rotary Club for choosing me.

"Although daunting at first it was literally the most amazing week I have ever had.

"I met some wonderful people and learnt so much.”

Linda Baylis, president of Vigornia, said: “We chose Maddie because she showed great courage and personality.

"She is a super young woman and we’re so delighted that this experience has made a difference to her life”.

The Rotary youth leadership award is a programme run by Rotary clubs around the world.

Each year, thousands of young people between 14 and 30 are sponsored by a local club to attend an event run by Rotary.
