AN aspiring lawyer's online music compilation raised £5,500 for charity.

Ed Brew, 24, was inspired to do a good deed for charity when he was watching Comic Relief last year.

Music lover Mr Brew decided to put together an electronic music compilation - which ended up raising the cash for Sport Relief.

After ten months of work, he released it online as a paid-for download from either Itunes, Bandcamp or Beatport in November.

He presented a cheque with the total to his chosen charity Sport Relief last week.

Former King's School, Worcester student Mr Brew said: "The electronic music community in general is one where everyone knows someone.

"It's more like two degrees of separation than seven degrees.

"Everyone is really accessible and I got some big names involved."

As well as people paying for downloads, there was another aspect to the fundraising.

After the compilation had been out for five months, Mr Brew organised an online raffle of music merchandise, which raised another £1,000.

While he was organising the mix, Mr Brew - who grew up in Worcester and now lives in Martley - was working as a paralegal at Harrison, Clark and Rickerbys in Worcester.

His efforts also saw him get a job working for an electronic music company who helped him publicise the compilation.

Mr Brew, who studied at BPP in Birmingham, explained: "I started talking to Cody Allard who works for EDM District and helped me promote the tracks on YouTube.

"Through them I managed to get on some big YouTube channels.

"We carried on talking and they invited me over to Canada - all expenses paid - to meet their team with a view to working with them.

"I'm now working for them as a licensing manager."

Mr Brew doesn't believed in half measures - as well as all his mentioned commitments, he is also starting his legal practice course (LPC) next week, as well as setting up his own business.
