AN INSPIRATIONAL woman completed her 44th marathon in 44 days in Worcester yesterday (Thursday, September 18).

Amy Hughes, from Shropshire, is aiming to break a world record by running 53 marathons in succession.

Sports therapist Miss Hughes is raising money for the Isabelle Lottie Foundation, a charity which aims to raise awareness of early diagnosis of brain tumours within children and young adults.

She set off from the Dewdrop Inn in Lower Broadheath and completed a 26.1-mile circuit that passed landmarks including Worcester Cathedral, before finishing back at the Inn.

Miss Hughes' 45th marathon effort is due to take place in Coventry today (September 19).

She has already unofficially broken the world record and hopes to raise at least £53,000 in total.
