STUDENTS from a Worcester school have taken part in an initiative to create a lasting memorial to soldiers killed in the First World War.
Year 9 pupils at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College got involved with the project, which marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the war.
They worked alongside the Royal British Legion and the Worcestershire and Herefordshire branch of the Western Front Association to plant a poppy field in the shape of the cross.
This will act as a lasting reminder for the students who walk past it every day.
One of the abiding images of the war was the poppies which grew amongst the carnage of battle on the fields of Flanders and Northern France.
