A NEW service for people living in rural areas of Worcestershire has been launched.

The South Worcestershire Citizens Advice Bureau, has teamed up with DIAL (Disability Information and Advice Services) to offer a support network for rural residents.

This can provide information for residents about local services they may require, such as the foodbank or Cruse Bereavement Care.

The service is staffed by volunteers from the community, who have been trained and are supported by the CAB.

It is funded by the Lottery.

Stuart Cumella, community liaison volunteer for Martley and the Teme Valley, said: "As local volunteers we can be more readily contacted by people who may not have their own transport, and who may have lost their local bus service."

Teme Valley residents in need of help should call either Stuart Cumella on 01886 888797, John Lakeman on 01299 896846 or Margaret Watkins on 01299 270073.

People living in Alfrick can call Nigel Tudge on 01886 822284 or 07710551228, while Bransford, Leigh and Leigh Sinton residents' point of contact is Lillian Somervaille on 01886 833526.

Members of the Castlemorton, Birtsmorton and Welland community can call either Liz or Neville Mills on 07592 055998.
