THE new head of a Worcester secondary school has been announced.
Mark Pollard will take over at the helm of Bishop Perowne CE College from April.
His appointment follows the announcement earlier this term that headteacher Julie Farr would be stepping down from her role to retire next year.
Mr Pollard was appointed following a selection process held jointly by the school's governors and the Diocesan Board of Education.
Mr Pollard is currently part of the senior leadership team at Wolverley CE Secondary School near Kidderminster, a school which has recently undergone a significant transformation since he took over as acting headteacher and subsequently deputy headteacher.
He was previously assistant headteacher at Haybridge High School and Sixth Form in Hagley.
Mr Pollard is married and lives in Worcester with his two children.
He said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be offered the position and excited about the opportunity and the journey ahead.
"From what I have seen and learnt of the school already there are solid foundations on which to build an outstanding learning environment.”
Outside of school life, Mr Pollard is an avid sportsman with hobbies that include football, cricket, walking, cycling and going to the gym. He is also a keen theatre goer and enjoys playing the guitar and piano.
