Sir - The market place traders have had a seriously raw deal.

1. No consultation with the traders about the changes.

2. Very last minutes changes made to help them move elsewhere.

3. The reduction of their trading days from 6 to 3 days only.

4. A mobile butcher forced to call it a day and make a member of staff redundant.

Even Napoleon Bonaparte recognised Britain's entrepreneurship, even sneeringly.

But this nation of shop-keepers beat him. Britain is rapidly declining to insignificance on the international stage - due mainly to the small and medium enterprises being strangled by Soviet style council and government intervention.

We read in the Human Rights Act - 6) Acts of public authorities. (1)It is unlawful for a public authority to act in a way which is incompatible with a Convention right.

Article 15 of the European Convention of Human Rights (S1)Everyone has the right to engage in work and to pursue a freely chosen or accepted occupation.

The council acts in a way all Tory and Labour administrations have done. Grovelling to big business (and banks) while doing nothing for the common person trying to eke a living.
