OLDER people can learn defensive skills by a martial arts instructor at The Hive on Saturday (March 14).

A practical workshop teaching defence and protection skills, intended for people approaching and beyond retirement age, will concentrate on teaching participants ways in which they can protect themselves and be safer.

The two hour session, from 2pm to 4pm, is being taught by internationally renowned martial artist Neil Hall.

He said: "I believe you really are never too old to defend yourself.

"In this session, which is aimed at an older age group, I will assess the protection skills the participants already have and work with everyone to develop new skills.

" It will be a relaxed and light-hearted workshop and, whilst I won't be creating ninjas, the aim is that everyone takes away some new defence skills."

Anyone interested in booking a place on the workshop, costing £12.50, should call 01905 822866.

People should come dressed in normal day clothes and bring a handbag, walking stick or umbrella with them.
