OUR March meeting was the annual members’ meeting – which meant that on this occasion the members would be in charge and the committee could take a rest, once the usual business had been dealt with by our appointed president, secretary and treasurer.
As they sat down to enjoy the meeting, president Jane Baker and secretary Ann Brown arrived wearing very attractive hats and taking their places at the officers’ table with dignity and grace. Jane welcomed everyone and thanked the regular officers and committee for their work throughout the year and for keeping Wychbold WI safely on track for the enjoyment of us all.
Ann read last year’s members’ meeting minutes and we remembered fondly the joyous time we had that day, celebrating Pat Kay’s 90th birthday.
Our speaker for the afternoon was Yvonne Mort, who had travelled from Leominster to demonstrate her version of the intricate art of drying flowers. We were delighted by her beautiful creations and the attractive way in which she had used the flowers to decorate pictures and greeting cards.
Seeing ‘new faces’ doing all the work – taking subs, setting out the competition, selling raffle tickets, being hostess for the speaker etc was also a great opportunity for the present officers to make notes of who we might invite to join the regular committee at our next annual meeting.
We certainly have plenty of talent available in Wychbold and some very competent and capable ladies.
Our April meeting was held at Wychbold Village Hall, when the speaker was Peter Preece with a photographic presentation.
