Worcestershire Camera Club

WORCESTERSHIRE Camera Club held its annual natural history competition last month, which proved to be a resounding success.

The external judge Peter Preece gave a good practical resume of all the entries during the evening, and subsequently wrote to complement the club and also to praise the high standard of the images presented.

The successful members in both categories were as follows: Prints: First prize: Roger Blandford with “European eagle owl”; second: Douglas Gregor with “polymorphic spider”; third: Peter Jepson with “cheetahs”; fourth: Richard Sarginson with “an evening stroll”.

Highly commended: Roger Blandford with two other prints; Joanna Zyla and Edwin Beale.

Projected images: First prize: Ron Jones with “puffin with eels”; second: Joanna Zyla with “red kites”; third: Andy Bradford with “golden eagle on prey”

Highly commended: Roger Blandford; Bob Tunstall and Roger Smith.

Commended: Roger Blandford and Peter Russell.

Our own Clive Haynes FRPS got the month under way with a fascinating talk entitled “photoshop techniques” and “exploring digital infra-red photography”. Clive was in his element and gave a master class in how photoshop can enhance and improve photographs.

Later in the month we had the opportunity to see audiovisuals of the PAGB Great British Cup Competition (in which we take part), and which represents the finest photographic images put forward by photographic clubs throughout the UK. It gave us all an idea of what we were up against in national competitions.

We concluded with a viewing of the images that members had taken, and which had been sent to our transatlantic friends in Seven Hills Camera Club Massachusetts USA.
