North Claines Women's Institute

12:44pm Tuesday 16th March 2010

BISHOP Allenby Hall was all abuzz when North Claines WI held its March birthday meeting.

Members joined with guests from within the Worcester group of WIs for a great celebratory gettogether.

Shirley Cadman provided a marvellous cookery demonstration, producing five dishes from scratch. One pork fillet with a cream sauce was cooked in front of our noses tantalising our taste buds as the sensuous smells drifted around the hall.

No birthday party is complete without sandwiches and cakes and ours (we are a WI after all) was no exception. A cryptic competition on herbs and spices had everyone racking their brains but the winning WI only missed out on two answers. The evening ended with a special birthday raffle including raffling Shirley’s dishes to some very lucky winners. Our next meeting is on April 7 at 7.15pm at Bishop Allenby Hall St Stephen’s Church, Droitwich Road, Worcester. Chris Evans’ talk is entitled “potatoes”.

Intrigued? Come along and find out about his extraordinary life with potatoes. You may be surprised. More details about our WI may be found at northclaineswi.moonfruit.co.uk.
