PRESIDENT Dot Waldron welcomed members to the annual general meeting in November and congratulated them on the wonderful display of crafts on show.

Items from the Federation newsletter were brought to our attention, including a Federation visit to Denman next year.

We were also reminded to complete a slip printed in the November edition of WI Life to choose resolutions for the 2012 conference in London.

Secretary Beryl Smith read her correspondence and we heard that the bra chain attempt for the Breast Cancer Campaign had failed to beat the record.

However, another attempt would be made next year. So don’t throw any bras away, please.

Ann Smith opened her talk with a plea to us to heed our president’s request to complete the form regarding the 2012 resolutions.

We were then informed that Dot Waldron wished to retire as president, and after a round of voting, the honour to replace her fell to Angela Kovacevic.

Treasurer Sara Picken presented satisfactory accounts for the year and her budget for 2012.

Beryl presented her report as secretary and noted that it had been a difficult year with a lot of illness.

Bbut we had had some very good meetings nevertheless – the undisputed highlight being Gladys (Lewis’) 90th birthday and her wedding.

Beryl ended by forecasting an exciting year in 2012, with our 25th birthday to prepare for in November.

Ann Brown presented a lovely flower arrangement to Dot, with our thanks for being such a wonderful president for so long.

In her thanks, Dot said it had been 10 wonderful years during which she had made a lot of friends and had a lot of fun.
