THE November walk was the last one for 2011 and Pauline and Richard Mills led it through the Teme Valley.
Although so late in the season, it was a lovely dry, sunny day and much appreciated by the 14 walkers and one dog who took part. It is 37 years since the Ramblers were formed, mainly to try to get blocked footpaths in use again.
A lot of miles have been covered in those years. There have been a few confrontations during that time but no injuries.
At the recent AGM, chairman Harry King stepped down after 19 years of keeping us on the right paths. Pauline and Richard Mills will continue as secretary and treasurer.
It was agreed to donate £50 to the air ambulance. Perhaps this will act as insurance against them being called out for a Martley rambler in trouble.
The programme for 2012 was drawn up with some extra walks during school holidays at the request of some village inhabitants who would like their children to accompany them and find out more about the area.
The usual day for walks is the second Sunday of the month but the extra ones will be also be noted in the Villager and the programme on the Martley website. The meeting point is in the church car
park. Contact details for the secretary are on the village contacts page in the Villager monthly magazine.
