OAK APPLE WI have celebrated their 16th birthday.

They welcomed Suzanne Owen, who started Oak Apple all those years ago.

The minutes were read and the president told members about a number of invitations and events coming up, and invited members to put their names on the notice board if they are interested.

She pointed out that the federation were seeking a new group co-ordinator.

Oak Apple were beaten in their final skittles match.

We welcomed Suzanne and Vicky Coghlan, who had come to give us a cookery demonstration. They circulated sheets with the various recipes on and Suzanne started with the cheese and pesto pasties.

They took turns in showing us how to make florentine bites, cupcake brownies, some savoury canapés, a herb cheese log and tiramisu.

They made aking a small version of this without the cocoa powder for a couple of members who were not eating chocolate during Lent.

They also brought some that they had made earlier so members could all sample the different delicacies. Maggie and Rosemary provided the tea or coffee to go with the samples. Suzanne and Vicky were thanked by the president for their demonstration.

Margaret Dufty made us a birthday cake cut and members sang Happy Birthday to themselves and even had a group photo taken.

The monthly competition was for a WI birthday ditty and Janet Simmons was the winner.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, April 17, at 7.30pm at Whittington Village Hall when the speaker will be Janice Waldron of Pearls.
