OUR president, Viv Jackman, greeted a very good attendance at the March meeting including two visitors, Stephanie Chiver, a past member, and Glenys Taylor.
The minutes and an extensive correspondence were read by secretary Beryl Lord.
Forthcoming summer outings were considered and Viv was willing to book seats for The Swan Theatre’s production of Me And My Girl in August.
The birthplace of Elgar at Broadheath and a possible lunchtime event at Spires restaurant were also suggested.
The speaker for the evening was Terry Church, and his topic Growing Up In The Black Country.
He reminisced and shared with his audience his memories of early childhood days and growing up in Wall Heath. Beryl Lord gave the vote of thanks. The raffle prizes were won by Susan Oakley and Barbara Turner.
The next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 18, when Wendy Hill will be speaking about Elgar, his wife Alice and daughter Carice.
New members or visitors will be most welcome.
BERYL M LORD
