MAUREEN Matthews welcomed members and three visitors to the March meeting.

We all wished Annette a speedy recovery from her keyhole surgery on her knee.

Christine Williams gave out notices and details of invitations from Pump House, Littleworth and Kempsey WIs.

The winner of the monthly competitions for 2011-2012 was Joan Shelley, who was presented with the Edna Powell Cup and a prize of £5.

The social skittles evening has been arranged for May 21 at the Anchor Inn, this is for members and their families and friends.

Jean gave out the tickets for My Fair Lady at the Swan Theatre in May.

Our last skittles match against Broomhall is now on April 17.

This month, members were sitting four to a table and in front of each one was a board, a walnut whip, two paper patterns, rolling pin, a little bag containing white icing and a pot of water.

In a container in the middle of the table were various items including cocktail sticks, straws, cutting wheels, two shade of pink icing, Maltesers and a little tub of green leaves.

Maureen introduced us to our demonstrator, Gleg Lyster, who is an expert in sugar icing.

Gleg showed us how to make a lady with a shawl and holding a bunch of flowers.

We had great fun cutting and rolling the icing, making her face, shawl and the flowers.

Each lady was on a silver board and when we had finished we put them all together on a table.

Joan Shelley thanked Gleg for a very enjoyable evening.

The competition was ‘Something Purple’ and the winner was Shirley Yapp’s bag.

The raffle was drawn and tea and biscuits served.

Next month is our birthday meeting, and members will be providing the buffet. There will also be a tombola, raffle and trading stall. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month in St Mark’s Church Hall, Bath Road, Worcester, at 7.30pm.MAUREEN Matthews welcomed members and three visitors to the March meeting.
