ABOUT 20 members and guests of the monthly Greek interest club enjoyed a thoroughly interesting talk by visiting guest speaker Ray Aspden.

The Palace of Nestor at Pylos situated on the Peloponnese mainland has the best preserved ground plan and most complete linear B archive of the known Mycenaean sites.

Ray combined the two to speculate on what life was like immediately before the terminal destruction.

During the interval, the monthly raffle was won by Geoff Peters.

The next monthly meeting will be on Thursday, April 26, when guest speaker Les Roberts will present his talk entitled ‘Greek War of Independence 2’.

Also known as the Greek Revolution of 1821, Les will continue his evocative story of how Greece finally gained its freedom from the 400-year tyranny of the Ottoman Empire.

The meeting will be held at the Worcester Golf and Country Club, Bransford Road, Worcester, starting at 7.30pm for 8pm.

Anyone wishing to come along to enjoy finding out more about the Hellenic world will be made most welcome.
