THE Queen visits Worcester in July to mark her Diamond Jubilee and in anticipation of this Worcester U3A held their Diamond Jubilee Showcase.
Union Jacks provided a backdrop for what was a triple celebration, including the 30th anniversary of the U3A in Britain and the Olympic Games.
Displays and presentations showcased the talents and hard work of members, a tribute to the many opportunities U3A provides.
Ancient Greece and the origins of the Olympic Games, complete with startling graphic accounts of play, gave way to the tourist scene in modern Italy and a sketch, largely in Italian, but with sufficient action for the non-linguists.
The main jubilee celebration included six highly diverse poems, one representing each laureate of the last 60 years. A tribute in music followed.
Flags waved as the choir led the Last Night of the Proms, featuring Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.
