IT was a full house for the May meeting and Jean Kennedy welcomed members and visitors.

There was been a coach trip to see the Olympic village site and Greenwich Park – at least we will be able to recognise the sites on TV, even though we had not been able to get tickets. A gift was presented to Pauline for organising a most enjoyable visit.

Our fundraising event is to support the village May Fayre at the cricket club in Rushwick on Sunday, May 27, where WI members and friends are running a cake stall.

Members were asked to indicate if they were interested in attending any of the invitations from nearby WIs.

There is also a Diamond Jubilee dinner on July 6, at Abberley, or a trip to Winchester on July 12, as set out in WI News.

Within the group, Sally has kindly agreed to host small tea parties to enable members, old and new, to chat informally.

The first one this year would be on May 23, at 2.30pm, and then the fill-a-car initiative is on May 31, visiting Pershore and Evesham Country Park. Meet at the village hall at 10.30am.

Reports were given on the ongoing singing group, book club, film fans, netball and badminton.

A craft group could be started if anyone is interested.

Barbara Jenkins was welcomed to talk about the Lively Ladies of Worcester.

We were pleased to learn of the exploits and lives of women born in Worcester, some of whom achieved greatness in their life times and all of whom experienced incredible exploits.

Barbara did ask if anyone had knowledge, especially photographs, of the White Woman, and some members were able to add to Barbara’s knowledge of her, perhaps to be the subject of a future talk.

The June meeting is on June 6, at 7.30pm in the village hall.
