OUR May meeting focused on the WI resolution calling for the training, employment and retention of more midwives. Due to the rising birth rate and the increase in older mothers there is great pressure on services. It seems obvious that if more midwives are needed then more should be employed – but in our financially-tight times would resources be diverted from other equally worthy areas?
Our members voted in favour of the resolution and we moved on to some fun quizzes.
We meet on the second Thursday of the month in Hanley village hall and welcome visitors.
