Go Green this Father's Day Stuck for something to buy this Father’s Day? Worcestershire County Council's Waste Prevention Team is urging residents to buy something green as a gift this year – perhaps a compost bin, a garden shredder or even a recycled drink's glass.
Everyone can help to reduce the amount of waste we generate by thinking carefully before buying and following these shopping tips: • Buy items in less packaging or in recyclable packaging • Buy goods that will last rather than disposable goods • Buy useful gifts like a compost bin or wormery from www.letswasteless.com • Buy items made from recycled materials • Reuse, visit your local reuse or charity shops for some real bargains.
Councillor Anthony Blagg, Cabinet member for Environment and Waste said: “When thinking of what to buy fathers it can be really difficult and often they end up with items that are not practical or useful. Most men enjoy getting useful gifts, so think out of the box this Father’s Day by buying an eco-gift. It is a great way to reduce waste and our impact on the environment.”
Father’s Day is on June 17. For more information on waste and recycling visit www.letswasteless.com to buy a compost bin visit www.getcomposting.com or call 0844 571 4444
