A VOLATILE relationship which started on Facebook ended with a man pleading guilty to harassment.

James Rogers appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court where he was placed under a rstraining order.

Peter Love, prosecuting, said Rogers met Jenni Organ-Potter on the social networking site in August but the relationship was turbulent.

“Arguments became more frequent and he smashed a glass in her flat in Lowesmoor and said she wasn’t allowed to leave,” he added.

Another argument followed at which point Miss Organ-Potter said she did not want to see the 20-year-old again, leading to a series of text message from Rogers.

“He said, ‘Ring me now or make sure you don’t see me again’, and later, ‘I want my work clothes now. If you don’t ring me now I’ll be kicking the door down’,” said Mr Love.

“When she went home she saw boot marks on her door then saw some notes just through her letterbox.

“One read: ‘I’ll destroy yours and your friends’ lives’.”

When interviewed Rogers, of Sansome Place, Worcester, said he never intended to carry out the threats and had written another message since, saying to ignore his earlier messages as he would not do anything to harm or annoy Organ-Potter.

Mark Turnbull, in mitigation, said Rogers did not oppose the restraining order requested by Miss Organ-Potter but he was concerned that it should not stop her contacting him.

She had been sending him messages while he was on bail knowing he was not allowed to contact her wihtout breaching the conditions, Rogers said.

Rogers was subject to a previous community order and had appointments with the probation service which he had been regularly missing, the court was told.

Nicola Phillips, chairman of the magistrates, sentenced Rogers to a 12-month community order with supervision and a one-to-one domestic abuse programme as well as a 12-month restraining order.
