A WOMAN fought back when a youth threatened her at knife point while she was walking through an alleyway in St Peter’s, Worcester.

The male youth approached the woman from behind and said “give me all your money” as she was on her way to Bicton Avenue on Tuesday, January 14, at 5.20pm.

The woman, in her early 20s, turned around, at which point he grabbed her with one hand and threatened her with a three-inch bladed knife.

She pushed him away and he stepped back, only to lunge at her and grab the necklace she was wearing, causing it to break.

He made off without the necklace in the direction of Tesco.

The youth is described as being white, quite short at around 5ft 4ins tall, aged between 15 and 22 years old, of slim build and he had a thin face.

He was wearing a black hooded waterproof jacket and a grey woollen garment across the lower part of his face.

Detective Constable Julia Proctor, of Worcester CID, said although the robber was unsuccessful and the woman survived the incident uninjured, she was left very shaken.

She said: “This type of armed crime is rare in Worcester, especially somewhere like St Peter’s, so it makes me concerned that we may have in the community a young man willing to carry and threaten someone with a knife.

“We need to find him, so if any one has any information about whom he is or if anyone witnessed any suspicious activity in the St Peter’s area, please contact the police."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on the non-emergency number 101, or called Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
