A GROUP of youngsters have teamed up to help clean an area of Droitwich’s Westlands estate.

People from youth group DAFFY (Droitwich Action For Future Youth) gathered to take part in the work on Wednesday, August 14.

The area they cleaned up was at the back of a recently closed pub. The site has since been used as a meeting point my the estate’s teenagers and was left in a mess.

The youth group approached youngsters who use the site to see if they would be willing to help with the clean up.

When they agreed, the group provided brooms, gloves and refuge bags to help with the task.

Many of those that took part will also be involved in a fun week at the end of August. The event will see 13 - 19 year olds organise activities for five - nine year olds with the support of qualified and experienced youth workers.

The fun packed three days will take place at Droitwich Spa High School’s sports hall on August 28, 29 and 30 from 10am to 2pm. The price is £5 per day or three days for £10. For further information or for a consent form, contact daffycollective@hotmail.com.

DAFFY launched when youth services at a centre in Old Coach Road, Droitwich, was stopped last year.

Youth workers based at the site started the new group to provide activities for young people in the town.
