PEOPLE will have a chance to see how Easter is marked in Poland this Friday with a special event called ‘Easter Traditions’ at a Droitwich children’s centre.

The event is open to everyone, but especially to families with young children, as a way of letting people experience Easter the Polish way.

Children will be able to have a go at painting Easter eggs, take part in an Easter egg hunt, meet some farm animals, and sample some traditional Polish food.

The event is being organised through the children’s centre, and Wychavon District Council’s Migration and Integration in Rural Areas (MIRA) project, with Kasienka Polish food shop from Droitwich High Street supplying the food.

Tom Piotrowski, MIRA officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “We want families to explore Easter traditions as they are celebrated in different countries. By discovering both the similarities and differences of how Easter is celebrated in different countries we are hoping to bring different communities closer together.

“The event will be about fostering good community relations, and representatives from the NHS and police will be there. But the main focus is on sharing the richness of Easter traditions from around the world, and I think the Polish community in Droitwich will be particularly pleased to present some of their ancient customs linked with that particular festival.”

The event is running from 3.30-6pm on Friday, April 11 at the WANDS Children’s Centre in Farmers Way, Westlands.
