MEMBERS from the Kodokan Judo Club in Droitwich have managed to collect more than £800 by helping the town’s shoppers pack their bags in Morrison’s supermarket.

The club, which only launched in January, has already gained 24 junior members and nine senior members in a short time.

Members played host to a judo club from Droitwich’s twin town of Bad Ems in Germany in August, and the money raised is going towards paying for the club’s members to return the visit.

Many of the members stayed at the supermarket for six hours packing bags, and managed to raise an impressive £831.14.

Club secretary Clare Clarke, said: “The staff of Morrison's were extremely helpful and patient and our thanks goes to them. The generosity shown has inspired our junior members to undertake even more fundraising activities and I am sure they will achieve their goals.”

The club also received a donation from local estate agents Nicol & Co toward the trip.
