GIRLS from years two and three at Chawson First School have been getting to grips with some sporting skills as part of an after school football club.
The club was organised by Joe Robinson, who works as the assistant manager of Coventry City Women’s Football Club.
Mr Robinson visited the school for five weeks, running an afterschool club to teach the girls some football skills and teamwork, and they have enjoyed it so much they’ve invited him to stay for a further five weeks.
Trudy Purser from Chawson First School, said: “The girls’ confidence has really grown, and their skills are improving. He’s even invited them to a home match at Coventry to be the mascots for the day.”
The school doesn’t usually offer football as part of its PE lessons so everything was new to the girls.
Ava Carson-Brown said: “I liked learning new styles of kicking the ball.”
Sophie Watkins added: "I have learned to look where I’m going and multi-task."
