PUPILS from Dodderhill School, together with staff, parents and friends, got on their marks on Wednesday for their very own Race for Life.

The race, which was organised to raise money for Race Cancer Research UK, saw 300 women and girls take part dressed in pink, with different courses for the different age groups.

Children from the nursery ran around the school’s tennis courts, while kindergarten children completed a lap of the field, and the more mature runners completed a full 5km course taking in the school premises and some of the rest of Droitwich.

The event was organised by Dodderhill School’s head of art Rachel Hatfield, who is a keen runner in her spare time. She said: “The race was a great success and we’re really pleased with the turn out. Everyone that took part gave it their all and we’re really proud, particularly of our pupils, some as young as three, who ran superbly to raise funds for this great cause.”

Headmistress of Dodderhill School, Cate Mawston, added: “We are very pleased to support such a worthy cause. We are hoping to raise lots of money when we collect all of the sponsorship in later this week and everyone had a bit of fun along the way.”
