A DROITWICH man has been handed four suspended prison sentences after admitting stealing items including pyjamas, steak and cleaning products from a number of shops in the town.

Adam Harrison, of Bays Meadow, admitted stealing a pair of pyjamas wort h £25 from Peacocks in High Street.

Worcester Magistrates Court heard the 36-year-old was stopped by a member of staff, and when he handed the pyjamas back said: “This is what I do so I don’t have to work like you”.

He also admitted two thefts at B&M Bargains in Kidderminster Road where he stole £30 of cleaning products and returned the following day to steal £90 of washing-up liquid.

And he admitted stealing steaks worth £50 from Sainsbury’s in Worcester Road.

District Judge Nigel Cadbury handed Harrison a ten-week prison sentence for each of the four thefts, but suspended them for a year.

He was also given a nine-month community order as well as a six-week curfew and ordered to pay £195 compensation and an £80 victim surcharge.
