IN a moment of what can only be called bad timing the water play area at Droitwich Spa's Lido Park has been labelled ‘out of order’ and closed to the public.

With temperatures soaring Wychavon District Council issued a notice on its website to say staff were working to fix the problem as soon as possible.

Sharon Casswell, client services manager at Wychavon District Council, said: “We first realised there was an issue with the free water play area towards the end of last week. Since then our maintenance contractor has carried out a temporary repair to the two main water pumps. However, on Tuesday evening (June 30) they both failed completely leaving the water play area out of action. As the pumps are expensive, specialist parts they have had to be ordered from Germany. It is hoped they will arrive by the end of next week and will be installed as soon as possible. We apologise for the disruption to this extremely popular facility but it is an unforeseen event and we are doing everything we can to get it working again as quickly as possible.”
