CHILDREN from Himbleton CofE First School have been learning all about the glorious age of steam with a school trip to see the Severn Valley Railway.
All 63 youngsters from the school, along with 10 members of staff, enjoyed a journey to Highley on the steam train, before taking a look around the engine shed where they had a chance to get closer to the railway’s collection of steam locomotives, and even the magnificent royal carriage, which was used by King George VI.
Then as an extra treat the children headed off to Bridnorth where they got to ride a different kind of railway altogether, travelling on the town’s cliff railway, before heading back to Himbleton.
Headteacher Janine Burton, said: “The children were an absolute credit to the school and had fun learning through their experiences.”
