DROITWICH Fire Station is throwing open its doors this Saturday for its annual open day event.

The station on Friar Street will be allowing members of the public inside to take a closer look at the fire engines, and the equipment used by the firefighters.

There will also be a chance to learn more about fire safety advice, and the firefighters will be holding a number of demonstrations throughout the day, which will include showing how to house fires and chip pans fires can get out of control.

There will also be a chance to take a ride in a fire engine, and try out the breathing apparatus worn by firefighters.

The young Firefighters Association will be performing demonstrations, and members of the St John Ambulance will be putting on a display.

The open day will be taking place from midday until 4pm, will a host of fun attractions including face painting, a set of stocks, splat the rat, competitions, a raffle and refreshments including a cake sale and a barbecue.
