DROITWICH residents are being reminded to make sure they are registered to vote, before they miss out on the chance to select the next Police and Crime Commissioner, as well as the potential EU referendum.

Registration forms have been sent to 56,000 households around the district asking the residents to confirm the information held about them is correct.

As well as missing out on the chance to vote, anyone who fails to supply the correct information is also breaking the law.

People will be able to confirm their information, as well as identifying anyone who is missing, online or by post to ensure it is easy to comply.

Elaine Dicks, electoral services manager at Wychavon District Council, said: “Anyone that wants to vote must be registered. To make sure you are able to have your say at the elections next year, simply check the form when it arrives and reply as soon as possible.

“If you’re not currently registered, we’ll send you information explaining how to do this. Registering to vote is now faster and more convenient as it can be done online and the forms will explain how to do this.”

New rules for registration introduced last year, mean that everyone is now responsible for ensuring they are on the electoral register, whereas previously the head of each household was responsible to everyone at the property.

Any residents with questions about the forms can contact the elections team on 01386 565437 or write to elections@wychavon.gov.uk.
