PEOPLE in Bromsgrove and Droitwich are being invited to take part in a 10-week course organised by West Mercia Police to learn more about the work of the local police force.

The North Worcestershire Citizens’ Academy is taking place at Bromsgrove Police and Fire Station every Wednesday from 6.30pm-9.00pm from Wednesday, September 16 and will cover topics everything from crime prevention and detection, and road safety, to recording crimes and incidents, forensic investigation, the use of firearms, internet safety, and the role of the Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

Anyone over the age of 18 can enrol for the programme, which will be supported by police officers, police staff and supporting agencies and organisations.

Those completing the Citizens’ Academy programme will graduate with a formal ceremony, before hopefully going on to share their experiences and knowledge with the north Worcestershire community, or become special constables or volunteers with the police or other agencies.

Anyone wanting to find out more can access information, and register their interest by completing an online application form, at westmercia.police.uk/academies.
