KEEN cyclists in Droitwich Spa are being invited to take selfie-inspired photos of themselves on their favourite cycling routes, in order to win tickets to take part in a 75 mile cycle ride, which will start in Worcester.

The Aviva Tour Ride is set to start out in Worcester before taking in some of the most attractive and toughest climbs in the county, incorporating some elements from the 2014 Tour Of Britain route ridden by Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish.

Entrants will also have the option of taking on a less strenuous and flatter 40-mile option, or a family ride.

Councillor John Smith, cabinet member with responsibility for highways, said: “If you haven't used your bike for a while then the family ride might be the perfect opportunity to ride at your own pace in some beautiful riverside surroundings. The 'family ride' is free to enter and there will be mechanical bike support at the start. The start and finish for the family ride will be on Worcester Racecourse where there will be lots of interesting stalls in the event village"

Competition entrants will have their names put into a draw to win free tickets to take part in the ride, which is being hosted by Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.

The closing date for the competition is Saturday, September 10, and entries should be sent to enquiries@wlep.co.uk.

For cyclists wanting to register for the event without taking part in the competition, there is a £25 entry fee, although he family ride is free to join. Cyclists should visit the Aviva Tour Ride website at tourride.co.uk while Twitter users can use #TourRide #WorldClassWorcs to join the conversation and tweet pictures as they train.
