CROWDS turned out in their thousands for Salwarpe Village Fete recently with three new attractions on offer to entertain them.

Droitwich Community Choir made its first public appearance with 45 singers performing together, while Worcester Ukelele Band also made its debut, and dog trainer Pauline Whitakker demonstrated walking-to-heel music.

West Mercia Police Brass Band performed, and visitors had the chance to roll the dice to win a Volvo, as well as enjoying a silent auction, scouring the bric-a-brac marquee for bargains or admiring the displays of quilts, flowers and local history in the church before a classic car display at Salwarpe Village Hall.

Youngsters could try a pony ride, pet animals from Gloverspiece Mini Farm, or try their hands at a coconut shy, beat the goalie or have a go on the bouncy castle.

With a barbecue, WI teas, local ice-cream and cakes on offer, nearly 2,000 people got to enjoy themselves in the sunshine before the rain started to fall at 5pm.

The fete raised more than £12,000 with all proceeds going towards maintaining the historic churches at Salwarpe and Martin Hussingtree.
