THERE was a starring role for a canalside pub during the latest episode of Channel 4's primetime manhunt show Hunted.

'Fugitives' Stephen Hardiker and Martin Cole, from the Midlands, took to Worcestershire's canal towpaths to evade capture in last night's episode (Thursday).

The duo were excited to come across the Queen's Head, Sugarbrook Lane, Stoke Pound, with Mr Hardiker saying his aim was to return to the picturesque pub with his girlfriend once he had evaded capture by a team of surveillance experts for 28 days.

Mr Hardiker, a heating engineer, called the canalside pub "gorgeous" as they stumbled across it on their way to Bridgend, Wales.

He said: "That pub is absolutely gorgeous.

"I'm going to make it my aim now. I'm going to come back here with my beautiful girlfriend and I'm going to sit right there and buy her a meal."

Lindsay Freeman, manager of the Queen's Head, said it was great to hear the pub had been given such praise and primetime exposure.

"It's lovely, I haven't watched the show yet but I will definitely be catching up on it now.

"We often get comments about our lovely garden. It's a great size and has a beautiful view and we are dog friendly too.

"If the pair do come back to visit us it would be great if they would make themselves known to us."

Hunted features 14 ordinary people from across the country who go on the run from a team of expert hunters.

The hunters use surveillance cameras, covert listening devices, social media as well as old-fashioned sleuthing to capture the runaways.

Stephen and Martin planned to combine their skills to evade capture with Stephen's passion for WWII history fuelling his dream to escape detection while IT specialist Martin hoping to prove a point that people can disappear.

Hunters is on at 9pm on Channel 4 or catch up on the latest episode at 4OD.
